Resource Therapy

Resource Therapy is a short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy based on the idea that personality consists of many parts.
Some of these are formed in childhood as an emotional record of our reactions, or as a coping mechanism for particular situations.

Over time, however, these ways may become inadequate to current reality. We may feel that some part dominates our life more than others, e.g.: the anxious part, the sad part, the part that fears rejection. Other parts of our personality are more difficult to access e.g.: the happy part, the courageous part, the loving part.
Usually the part that brings the client to therapy and presents the problem is rarely the part that needs changing. Therefore, in therapy, I try to recognise and skilfully involve in the therapeutic process the part of the personality that needs changing.

I often tell clients that every part of the personality is important, necessary and a valuable inner resource. Wisdom is to skilfully use the right resources according to the place and situation.
